Community Involvement

Rooted in Community
Although Emerald Cove Counseling is fully virtual, we’re deeply connected to the Sycamore community we call home. We believe in supporting the people and organizations that make this area special. Recently, we were proud to participate in the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce’s 78th Annual Golf Outing—an event that brings together local leaders and businesses in a spirit of fun and collaboration.
As we continue to grow, we’re committed to giving back through community partnerships, local events, and mental health education. Whether it’s showing up, sponsoring, or simply connecting with neighbors, we want to be a supportive and visible part of Sycamore’s future.

Taft 5k
This year, Jill and Adrianna from Emerald Cove Counseling proudly volunteered at the Taft 5K, an event dedicated to supporting the revitalization of the historic Lorado Taft Campus. By giving their time and energy, they joined the community in raising funds to help reopen and reimagine this beloved space. Every dollar from the race contributes to essential steps—covering legal fees, community events, and the behind-the-scenes work needed to officially welcome the public back. Through their service, Jill and Adrianna reflected Emerald Cove’s commitment to fostering well-being and community connection, while helping create a vibrant, nature-centered future for generations to come.
United Unitarian Church of DeKalb Warming Center
Jill is the Training Manager for the United Unitarian Church of DeKalb Warming Center.
The Overnight Warming Center’s mission is of the center is to provide a safe, warm, and welcoming overnight haven for individuals and families who are unhoused and lacking adequate heat, and providing a sense of belonging. Neighbors who are food insecure may also stop by for a meal without staying the night. The OWC is located at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of DeKalb at 158 North, 4th Street.
The Center needs volunteers to cover shifts or donate meals. Volunteers will receive training provided by Jill and then be asked to sign up for 4 hour shifts from 5pm to 9pm, 9pm to 1am, 1am to 5am, and 5am to 8:30am each night through March 15, 2026.
Those who wish to volunteer for shifts at the center or provide meals can email us.
Stats: Last year alone, 87 individuals received services, amounting to 1112 meals and overnight stays total.

Moms’ Workshop
Emerald Cove Counseling offers Mom Workshops and Women’s Workshops designed to bring together new and seasoned mothers for open, judgment-free conversations about the realities of motherhood. These groups provide a safe, supportive space to discuss challenges such as burnout, anxiety, identity shifts, and the overwhelming “invisible load” that so many women carry. Rooted in Emerald Cove’s focus on women’s mental health, the workshops aim to rebuild the sense of community and connection that many moms feel is missing—the “village” every parent deserves. Led by compassionate therapists, each session invites honest dialogue, shared experiences, and practical tools to help mothers navigate the emotional ups and downs of parenting while finding strength, self-compassion, and a renewed sense of belonging.
